Darseum
An open-air museum between memory and city.
It's an open-air museum, developed along the Canale Candiano, located in Ravenna.
This project, by means of 5 different installations, highlights the historical roots of the relationship between Ravenna and the Adriatic sea, promoting a whole new perspective. The emphasis on the importance of water element is the key theme throughout the project.
The Ravenna Darsena is a "gateway to the Adriatic Sea" and a contemporary symbol of the city. As a place dense with meaning, it is an important piece of the collective memory of the Ravenna community. What is missing is the transmission of the intrinsic values and meanings of the place and the bond between the sea and the city.
OBJECTIVE
The purpose of the project was to activate, enhance a place dense with meaning by creating a cultural and interactive pathway to generate new rituals and at the same time create a collective memory and a renewed sense of citizenship.
Darseum is an open-air museum, developed in an itinerary along the canal highlighting 5 themes: the history of the Ravenna-Sea relationship; a new point of view to see the canal; mosaic; sound waves; and water appreciation through a scientific experience. Each point is identified with a graphic symbol represented both on the floor and on the wall. The larger graphics painted on the floor will indicate where users should stand.
Services will be accessed by downloading the app and creating a personal account. The app will not only serve as a guide but will also make multiple users interact by sharing their experiences.
